Challenge of the Month - Scraps & Punches

Welcome to my first post...and our first challenge.

I'm hoping to provide ideas & inspiration for your card making along with tips & techniques, plus monthly giveaways.

Every month I will demo a card idea then challenge you to create your own using the same techniques. If you haven't got all the materials or tools used, don't worry, just use what you have - this is just an excuse to have a go and most importantly, have fun ;-)

Post a photo of your wonderful creation onto this blog or the Facebook page and at the end of the month all entries will be put into a hat and one lucky winner will receive some crafty goodies (haven't decide what just yet but that just makes it even more exciting)

So, to kick us off, this month's challenge is to make a card using left over bits, punches and sentiment stamps. I wanted to show you that even the smallest scraps of paper and card can be used to make great cards. Combined with a punch or two and a sentiment/greeting stamp and you have a really neat little result.

I first cut a card blank 4"x 8" and scored at 4". Then a square of patterned paper, 2.5" x 2.5" was attached to the centre of the card. The sentiment/greeting was stamped underneath.

I used a mini heart or small butterfly punch on some silver glimmer card then a larger punch to cut out around the aperture which had been left behind. This was mounted using foam pads onto another, larger shape punched out of white card and finally mounted centrally onto the patterned paper, again using foam pads to make it pop out.

The stamp set, Petite Pairs, is really cool because the sentiment is split in two, giving you one for the front of the card and one for inside. I even used the punched out heart or butterfly and attached it inside the card to give it an extra bit of sparkle. And of course its always good to blow your own trumpet so I stamped a little message on the back...

So have a go, see what you can make, upload a photo and good luck for the prize draw at the end of the month. If you have questions about the products used, or want to borrow any of my supplies to make your cards, just drop me a text or email.

See you later
